Day Two

Abridged
Father day, got a t-shirt :) Headed to Epcot and managed to get some of the newer rides in that we missed last time, including Test Track, which was amazing and Soarin’ which was pretty good too. The g-forces on Mission:Space put Ann and Robert out of action for a bit, and she vowed never to go to Mars again! Hey, those are fightin’ words missus. In the afternoon, met Alice whilst in UK in The World Showcase and got her autograph (another one down), then headed on to Morocco to grab some fathers day lunch. It was blisteringly hot all day and it really started to get to the kids so after finishing off the Showcase we headed home to get some downtime before dinner. We definitely making Chili’s tonight so decided to phone to let them know (they don’t take booking for some reason) and then decided to walk it, which was a bit of a trek. Great fathers day meal, part II, and then we had a nice leisurely stroll back, stopping off at Walgreens for some sundries and toys. Apparently getting a new toy, means you need to video yourself opening the box (apparently), so set up the GoPro for Grace to create a wee YouTube video for her new My Little Pony Mystery Mini. Had an absolutely fantastic Father’s Day and my parentals are arriving tomorrow so going to take it easy before catching up with them for dinner in the evening :)

Everything is awesome!
Sorry The Lego Movie is on in the background and it’s distracting me. Anyway today woke up at 6.30 again but that’s ok cause it ME day. Well Father’s Day and they still celebrate it in America so it’s all good. The kids got me a t-shirt too which WAS awesome!

This is at Epcot, where we set off for early door again, the park isnt as manic and full as Magic Kingdom so it should be an easier and less busy day. Made a wrong turn due to plugging in the wrong address in the GPS but the road signs were so clear as Ive said that we got back on track with no issues at all
First up, Test Track. We missed this on our last visit so it was a top priority. It allows you to build and customize a car, and then jump on a simulator to test it out. So me and Patrick opted for a red sporty number with PLASMA BURNERS, while Ann, Grace and Robert built a lime green pick up truck and even though ours looked so much cooler it actually turned out even stevens (our final design numbers were 200 to 195, so we technically won ;). The ride itself was excellent and it jumped right to the top of my Epcot’s most wanted list, eh best rides list.

Next entered the big Epcot golf ball that is Spaceship earth, thought Grace would appreciate a slow one after sitting a little uncomfortably during the faster parts of Test Track. The rides was nice enough but there a part when you travel to the moon and see the earth and GG asked why we weren’t bouncing then - clever girl :) ‘We’ also lost Grace’s sunglasses through the course of travelling to the different rides across the park, which was unfortunate as it was a really bright day and they did look pretty cool on her. However, we managed to find them again ompletely by chance over an hour later at a different part of the park, it was really random but cool all the same - and I get my sunnies back.
Mission space/Mission motion sickness
So we had another FP+ for this ride and remembered it was really good from last time, so with Grace managing to just make the height restrictions and no more we all opted for the turbulent version, with high g-forces and sharp twists and turns. Its only a simulator but they stress that the rides is pretty intense and even provide sick bags just in case. I was with little Grace and held her hand through it, and she done brilliant yet again. Ann & Robert however did not have such a good experience and felt really dizzy & disorientated for a good while after. Ann is normally quite good with rides but she really didn’t fancy this one and advised in no uncertain terms she wouldn’t go on it again, which Robert & Gracie quickly backed up. As much as Patrick has a height 'thing’, he’s been really giving everything a good go this time around. Well so far I still need to get him around to The Hulk or Manta, but I have a few days to work on that ;)
Hit a few more rides in Future World including Soarin’ - another simulator, which flew you across many different vistas in California. It was a slightly gentler ride and Grace wouldnt shut up about it even planning to return and take her granny on it when she gets here tomorrow.

The Tangierine Cafe
Next up was lunch, which I was excited about and I purposely skipped catching a pastry for breakfast to keep my appetite for this later in the day (and in part due to the last nights late night burger and five dollar shake). The World Showcase houses a number of different countries and in those countries they provide a selections of unique offerings of food and drinks. As part of the planning I opted to go to Morocco for a special father’s day lunch as I absolutely love that particular cuisine.
As we traversed across some of the other countries to get to Morocco, we came across Alice by chance who was doing a meet and greet. Alice is one of Graces favourites, so off we marched, autograph book in hand.

So lunch, finally and I opted for some pita sliders with falafel, tabbouleh & cous cous. Ann had a Chicken & Lamb Shwarma combo and Patrick a Chicken Shwarma Wrap. Grace asked for a burger which she didnt eat (no surprise these) and Robert also a burger which he more of less scoffed. The food was really fresh and my absolute cup of tea. Patrick’s appetite had also still been wandering so I managed to get a could of Shwarma bites in too. Good job we had to walk all the way around the rest of the Showcase! (Robert actually used the iPod to counted the number of steps - yup give a task with numbers and he’ll be a happy pig). Also mentioned to Ann I might go for a run tomorrow and she just laughed - at least I’m thinking about it still I suppose ;)
Robert being Robert, found the word Falafel to be hilarious and just like he’s been doing to whole holiday turned it into a funny interjection (we even invented a game later that night where the last person to say 'falafel’ gets a forfeit - I think I’ll call it the falafel game, yes I think I will).
Back to the future!

Unlike previous days, the sunshine didn’t relax even for a second today and it was beginning to show on the kids. By the end of Showcase they were done - even though we had one or two rides still to catch, so we planned to do them next time and headed back to the car. It was registering 99 degrees in the car. Ouch!

Back to the hotel for a few hours downtime before we headed to Chills for dinner (this time). We decided to have a nice walk and phone the restaurant in advance and thought we were doing great at the whole planning thing before realizing (too late), that the place was miles away (just under 2 miles to be more precise). Good trek anyway and it made us all the more hungry. Chili’s - a Tex-mex restaurant - was great and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. I opted for the chicken & fish tacos - they were just lovely :)
Upon walking back we popped into a shop to get a few things including some detergent so we could start putting in some laundries. Haha 'we’ lol! ;) The shop also had toys so the kids wanted to spend some of their money and Grace, going through he My Little Pony phase at the moment, pick up some some. Her next words were priceless:
> Can I use the GoPro when we get home so I can review these?
LOL, toys - not just about having fun anymore is it??? Of course I let her record her video when we got back - it’s entertainment gold!!!
Anyway a great if a quieter more relaxed day with some excellent food thrown in - if Carlsberg made Father’s Days… ;)
Next stop (i.e. tomorrow) Blizzard Beach and my mum and dad are dropping in to say hi! :)
