Day Zero

A quick word to those seeing this for the first time – or for those who have forgotten my mindless ramblings from last time – this is our family’s holiday blog, where I (mostly) tell you about our adventures of all things Disney (and beyond) during our few weeks in Orlando, Florida. It is really just the contents of my brain downloaded on to the Internet for each day so I tend to drone on a bit, A BIG BIT. Anyway, you have now been suitably warned…
Ready… Flight!
Started to write this on the flight over as I have some time to kill (just under 9hrs to be a little less vague), and I won’t have this amount of free time again until we’re heading home, most likely. So everyone is more or less settled, Patrick’s playing Lego Jurassic World on his new PS Vita, Gracie’s on an MLP marathon on her iPad and Roberts changing his mind every five minutes from playing Minecraft to weird Robert things like scrolling back to the year 1804 on his iPad calendar to find out there’s no December (yes, really). Ann’s reading her kindle and I’m like Robert, too excited/preoccupied to make my mind up, so cycling through The Dark Tower Book III, trying to grab some sleep (which ain’t happening) and watching Adventure Time, which I’ll say I downloaded for the kids (I’ll say that but it’s really not true at all ;). It’s been a really quick morning so far…
The Airport
Up at 0500, left at 0600. This morning. Woah, ok, I’m briefly jumping back a bit here, so bear with me a sec. Michael & Kelly picked us up and took us in (thanks guys! :). At check in, declined the offer of Priority Check-in & Seating at £150, but then somehow managed to get it anyway, result! :D (thanks to Ann, her sweet talking ways and the lovely Joanne on the desk at Thomas Cook). Went for breakfast and opted for Eggs Royale and a side of Haggis (they did say it was award winning, so you just gotta do it, don’t you?). A wee obligatory beer and a few photos later, we head for the plane.

Ok we’re back on the flight and it went in fast! Malaysian Chicken Rendang for dinner (surprisingly good for plane food). Never really read or didn’t anything of any great consequence. Grace got a nap and thought it was the next day when she woke up (LOL). I tried to get a nap but yeah that didn’t really happen. Ann watched a movie and the boys powered through with their iPads. We got mini cornettos. We got sammiches. We land. It’s HOT!

And finally…
Right it’s half ten at night here now and I’m pretty freakin’ tired (been up for about 23 hours straight) so this should be quick.
I waited on our cases at the airport (after firing quickly through security) while Ann goes to sort out our rental car. Patrick returns 10 minutes later telling me that Ann needs my credit card. Uh-oh! Not even landed an hour and she’s already spending ALL the monies! :) So yeah we upgraded the car to this beast…

Above might just say show picture of car instead of the actual car - which is a Dodge Durango - I just might forget to add the photo in. Ann was designated driver and she done really well getting us to the hotel in a car three times the size of ours, on the wrong side of the road… AND all before the thunder started!

Yep, absolutely peeing it down along with proper forks of lightning and the accompanying claps of thunder. Trouble is we had to pop out in it to go to Walmart to get Gracie a stroller before morning as she couldn’t walk 10 yards in this heat, never mind around a theme park all day. Probably the first time the kids have see a proper thunderstorm too, lets just hope it’s the last one for a few weeks! :) Also grabbed some beers which was pretty pointless in the end since I didn’t have a bottle opener! DOH!!! Quick pizza for dinner before bed. DONE.
Magic Kingdom tomorrow so should be a whole lot more exciting and a much less boring topic than air travel, so see you next time :)
